Oils\/Graphite\/Charcoal<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“The intent of my work is to expand on, and modernize, the concepts and ideas of 19th century western art, extending into the golden age of illustration in the first half of 20th<\/sup> century. I find the common bond for art in this era is the exploration in the power of myth. Be it the myths captured by the works of the Pre-Raphaelites, the Orientalist, and the landscapes by the Hudson Valley or the historical and contemporary myths illustrated by Pyle, Remington, Rockwell or their peers. All these movements shared an ability of visually exploring narratives that went beyond the common place and captured timeless human values. These works expressed their ideas in the highest degree of craftmanship and refinement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When it comes to the creative process, I determine if a specific scene would be best captured by capturing the essence of a myth or through a visual metaphor. While oils are my preferred medium, I will turn and use graphite and\/or charcoal for those images whose message would be better expressed if rendered in black & white.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
