Torn Watercolor Paper Two-Day Workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Friday, June 12 & Saturday, June 13, 2026
from 10am to 4pm\u2022 1hr Lunch<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This workshop is open to adults and 15 yrs. or older art students with experience in working in watercolors and\/or gouache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoy a new approach to creating a watercolor \u201cpainting\u201d using watercolor or gouache, watercolor paper, and a host of other materials to create imaginative textures and effects. No scissors allowed! <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Day One:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watercolor paper prep using paint and other materials such as various salts, alcohol, burlap, wax paper, plastic wrap, sponges, and more. Preparation of the painting background as time allows. Demonstration of what\u2019s to come on Day Two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(There will be a one hour break for lunch)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day Two:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Review of some composition and design basics. There will be an overview of the project\u2019s construction process, including how to tear, building layers, and applying accents and finishing touches. Then, let the tearing begin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Materials to bring:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Your watercolors – Tubes are preferable for ease of use, but pans will work as well.
You can purchase watercolor tubes at ArtExposure if needed.<\/em>
\u2022 Your watercolor brushes and palette
\u2022 A MINIMUM of 2 sheets of 22\u201d x 30\u201d 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper. Bring more if you think you\u2019ll need it. Watercolor paper pads are NOT recommended for this project.
You can purchase watercolor sheets at ArtExposure if needed.<\/em>
\u2022 Masking tape and a board to tape down your project. (Some board is available at ArtExposure, but may not be big enough to accommodate your project)
\u2022 Your Lunch and beverage of choice! Microwave and refrigerator on premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Optional:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although everything else will be provided to finish your painting during the workshop, here are some things you may want to bring for your project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Masking Fluid\/Masking pen
\u2022 Bring anything that may make a texture such as textured fabrics, sand, string, wrinkled papers, etc. to use and share.
\u2022 A concept image or drawing for reference
\u2022 Any larger-size mat that you might want to use.
\u2022 A smock or apron\u00a0 OR just wear clothes that can get \u201cartsy.\u201d
\u2022 Snacks if you\u2019re prone to nibbling while you work.
