Meet Vickie Thatcher, Jewelry Artist

Born and raised in Wyoming, Vickie Thatcher moved to Sneads Ferry, North Carolina in 1984. Vickie and her husband Ray have two grown boys and three grandchildren, who also live in North Carolina. Vickie began designing and assembling wearable art in 2011, and shortly thereafter went to Coastal Carolina Community College in Wilmington, NC, where she studied Metals I and II to enhance her skills and hone her craft. 


Bead Embroidery is also something which Vickie really enjoys doing, having won several Blue Ribbons at both The Silver Arts local and state show. She also won Blue Ribbons at the Autumn with Topsail Show, and ArtExposure’s Annual Lynn Padgett Memorial Invitational Show. Her beautiful work was also juried and excepted at the prestigious  ArtFields Show in Lake City, SC.


Besides beading, Vickie's true love is enameling. Having a studio at ArtExposure Gallery allows her to explore her metal-smithing and enameling skills, which she learned at CCCC, in Wilmington, NC. 



Her concentration is on Enameled Jewelry, including designing with enamel in her spoon, fork and knife creations. Although she says she has no have no traditional training in art, her passionate persistence, patience, and imagination has carried carried her through.
