Lydia had an interest in art at a young age and was inspired by her mother, who was an artist. She stepped away from art for many years to pursue a career in engineering and raise a family. Upon retirement from NC state government in 2022, she began taking painting classes. Her medium of choice is watercolor and she leans toward realism.
Lydia has painted a broad array of subjects and also does bridal bouquet commissions, but her subject of choice is nature. She is also an avid photographer and many of her photos inspire her paintings.
She is a member of Greater Topsail Arts Association, Pender Arts Council, Wildlife Artists of the Carolinas, and Carolina Nature Photographers Association.
