It’s most likely that we all have encountered that old, worn picture frame that is “still good, just needs a little TLC.” I personally cannot throw things out which are still in decent condition, but just need a coat of paint, or have a screw tightened, or can be repurposed for something new and different.
So here are some ideas for those old picture frames that have the potential of becoming something new and unique. Adding a personally decorated wreath to your front door is always quite inviting, giving your visitors their first warm welcome to your home.
If you don’t have any up in your attic, old picture frames can also be found at thrift and antique shops. As for decorating them, you might like the rustic look of the old frame as is, or your taste may be more for newer look, in which case, a can of spray paint will come in handy.
Here’s a list of items you might want to keep on hand for your picture frame wreath project:
- Scissors
- Spray paint
- Dried or Silk flowers, grasses or other foliage
- Shells, pinecones, small stones or glass beads
- A glue gun
- A staple gun
- Ribbons, twine, yarn, thin wire
- Colorful cloth, burlap, mesh,
- Photographs, small novelty items, etc. for decoration
Always clean the frame before applying paint or glue. If you are spray painting the frame, remember to do so outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. We suggest to lay out your design pattern on the table before adhering to the frame, to see how things look together. When you are done, don’t forget to attach a bit of twine or wire to the back top area as a hanger.
Here are some fun design ideas that we found on line. Remember, you can use anything as a theme! Have fun creating your front door masterpiece.
